What is Session?

Session is a private messaging app that protects your metadata, encrypts your communications, and makes sure your messaging activities leave no digital trail behind.

What are Session groups?

Session has two types of groups — closed groups and communities.

• Closed groups (or just groups) are private group chats with 100 members max.
• Communities (previously open groups) are public Session chats with unlimited members.

How to join a Session group chat?

To join a Session Community, find your community at Session Communities.online and paste the Join Community URL into Session.

Is Session safe?

Session is free and open-source and it has been audited by Quarkslab.

Private messages and group chats are end-to-end encrypted. However, if someone gets access to your recovery password, they can decrypt all your past and future messages.

Does Session have calls?

Yes, Session has voice and video calls.

However, Session calls are not stable. They are not protected by onion routing, so the other caller can see your IP address.
